Patriots Match Best Victory Run From Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has scored five TDs during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the Patriots notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the New England's advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with QB Fields scoring a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's initial series
But the home team answered in the second period as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the endzone in the middle of the third period to make it 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Justin Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the win
