Letitia James Faces Federal Bank Fraud Charges
A national judicial panel has indicted the New York attorney general over allegations of bank fraud on Thursday, as stated by a person familiar with the matter.
Lindsey Halligan personally presented the case before the judicial panel this Thursday, as reported.
Federal prosecutors rarely present to such panels.
Halligan was appointed in the role the previous month following Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the pace in ongoing probes targeting political opponents.
This step is the president’s latest effort to leverage federal justice authorities to target adversaries.
It comes a fortnight following Halligan secured charges targeting the former FBI director.
Experienced attorneys prepared a memo regarding that situation explaining why indictments were not justified.
Comey entered a not guilty plea this past Wednesday.
