Check out Twenty-Nine Latest Cards from Magic: The Gathering's TMNT Expansion (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The well-known TCG's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive event held at NYCC. Could this be a exciting addition or simply another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you decide.

Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key context. Everything listed below releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.

Magic x TMNT: Core Set Cards

Before we get into the many unique products and collections available, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the set are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a couple of surprising features. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where players can play powerful creatures into the battlefield when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The big difference in this case is that Sneak can affect non-creature spells too. The designers also took the opportunity to clean up the mechanic a little (Sneak counts as casting, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.

“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu since that's where it originated and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior designer explained. “However in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”

That second variant of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with special art designed specifically for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Oh, and, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. Yet according to Wizards, that's now a legal card in all formats of Magic.

Anyway, here are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. Developers say they took care to ensure the new cards and gameplay elements meshed well with current Standard expansions such as Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for 15 months and we were aware it was going to be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to make sure that there's synergy with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red strategy focused on artifacts.

“They mesh together to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power!

After declining to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your Commander based on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area rather than only one). Take a look for yourself:

This Commander deck is priced at $69.99, though the price may rise due to popularity. Sources told that it contains 43 new cards in total, which means an additional 37 Turtle-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary creatures pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprinted cards if we assume the precon includes 37 lands.)

How will the Turtles version of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and find out.

TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)

As per usual, Wizards is selling a collection. This one is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • 9 Standard Boosters
  • Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
  • 15 Non-foil land cards
  • 2 helper cards
  • One Traditional foil promotional card
  • One Oversized life tracker
  • One Card-storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

Here’s a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every pizza-themed bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • 1 Premium Booster
  • 25 Non-foil pizza-themed lands
  • Five Traditional foil pizza basic lands
  • 2 Traditional foil Pizza Bundle promo cards
  • Two helper cards
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • 1 Card-storage box

If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with all-new TMNT art. The team revealed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza slice. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos available.

The Pizza Bundle releases a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This special bundle is made for a four-player draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:

  • 12 Play Boosters (the perfect amount a group of four to play draft)
  • One Collector Booster (also known as, the reward for coming in first)
  • 90 Regular land cards (for building your draft deck)
  • 10 Regular double-sided tokens
  • One Draft insert (a single-page guide to drafting the set)

Cooperative Play Set

Lastly, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its ongoing effort to develop Magic products specifically for beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend join forces to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.

The general idea is that every Boss card gives unique powers to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically casts one other card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
